HMA Weight Factor
Calculate compacted HMA weight in lb/SYD/in using bulk specific gravity (Gmb) from the JMF.
Formula basis: Unit weight = Gmb × 62.4 (lb/cf), then lb/SYD/in = Unit weight × (3 × 3 × 1/12).
Remember 110Lb/Syd per inch is an estimate, each mix is slightly different. Thus this calculator.

- Water unit weight is fixed at 62.4 lb/cf.
- 1 SYD at 1 inch thick has volume 3 ft × 3 ft × (1/12) ft = 0.75 cf.
- Therefore lb/SYD/in = Gmb × 62.4 × 0.75 = Gmb × 46.8.
